About
I am a psychiatrist trained in psychoanalysis, with subspecialty expertise in Consultation-Liaison (Psychosomatic) Psychiatry. I have been in private practice since 2003.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in emergency departments, medical-surgical units, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, and intensive outpatient programs. These settings have shaped my ability to think clearly in complex situations and to care for patients across a wide range of clinical circumstances—from acute crisis to long-term psychological work.
I grew up and completed medical school in Romania before immigrating to the United States. My background in medicine, together with subspecialty training in psychosomatic psychiatry, deepened my interest in the dynamic relationship between mind and body.
Living, training, and working within very different cultural, political, and economic systems—being shaped by them and, in turn, shaping my own sphere of influence—broadened my understanding and deepened my sense of how individuals and environments impact one another.
My formal training provided strong foundations in psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychosomatic medicine. Over more than twenty years of practice, my patients have continued to refine and deepen that education. Again and again, I have seen that meaningful change is the result of collaborative work that requires time, careful listening, a willingness to engage with complexity, and a deliberate effort to work through it.
I value careful thought, intellectual independence, and a willingness to question assumptions in clinical work.
For this reason, I have structured my practice to allow for thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care. I value depth of communication, clarity of formulation, and collaboration. My aim is to reduce unnecessary suffering while creating the conditions for a more coherent, engaged, and fulfilling inner life.
